In 2011, he exhibited at the  54th Biennale di Venezia, Padiglione Italia, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi.

This is Giovanni Cerri’s second exhibition in Toronto at De Luca Fine Art | Gallery . In 2010 he had his first personal exhibition entitled "Hurricane of Light", presenting a cycle of works on the theme of the city, the main subject of his work. This exhibition, entitled "LPortraits", is a series of portraits of the most famous faces of pop rock from the United States and Canada. Cerri, remaining faithful to his pictorial language, has interpreted famous "icons": from Bob Dylan to Patti Smith, from Neil Young to Leonard Cohen, from The Ramones to Aerosmith. A gallery of faces where the artist tries to also communicate the expressive "atmosphere" of these musicians, and trying to translate the spirit of their music in to images.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in the same format of the LPs with texts by Alberto Figliolia and Bruno Milone.

OPENING NIGHT SpotLight.Italy at The Canadian Stage Company

The Berkeley Street Theatre complex was transformed into an Italian salon where audiences can see four groundbreaking Italian contemporary dance and theatre productions, along with a series of free events featuring Italian fashion, music, food and art that will create a festival atmosphere. Between performances, guests can relax over Italian antipasti and a glass of wine in the Berkeley lobby while enjoying live music, contemporary light installations by BRUNO BILLIO and fashions by Versace and Carlucci, with different events taking place each night.

"LA NATURA DELLE COSE"
LA NATURA DELLE COSE
Choreography by Virgilio Sieni, collaboration on dramaturgical writing and translations Giorgio Agamben, with Ramona Caia, Massimiliano Barachini, Jacopo Jenna, Csaba Molnar, Daniele Ninarello.
Inspired by Lucretius’ ancient Roman text On the Nature of the Universe, this compelling dance theatre piece was conceived and choreographed to examine and explore the idea of the origin of things, vacuousness and nothingness.

NUNZIO Text by Spiro Scimone, Directed by Carlo Cecchi, with Francesco Sframeli and Spiro Scimone.

Dominic Mancuso
Tuesday, March 15, 8:30-10:30 pm

2010 Juno Award winner for "World Music Album of the Year" and 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award winner for "World Solo Artist of the Year" Dominic Mancuso weaves in the warmth and passion of Sicilian folk sensibility, with the sliding quarter notes of the myriad sounds of the Mediterranean rim, with the vibrant elasticity of the idiom of soul and the wild swing of jazz and Romani freedom. Mancuso is an artist that transcends cultures and borders making old world new.

Everyday: Internationally acclaimed Italian artist BRUNO BILLIO uses light to transform the Canadian Stage Company's Berkeley location for Spotlight on Italy. At once an installation artist, a sculptor, and a designer, Billio's centrepiece will be an 18' tall Black and Yellow Tower. DE LUCA FINE ART | GALLERY PRESENTS

A hurricane of light” by Giovanni Cerri

Toronto, June 14, 2010: De Luca Fine Art | Gallery is pleased to present, for the first time in Canada, new work by Milan based artist Giovanni Cerri.  The exhibition will launch with a public reception on Thursday, June 24th from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.  There will also be an after-party with the artist at BQM at 210 Ossington Avenue from 10:00 PM.

Canadian Triptych

Post script: This first exhibition of my new journey in the new habitat, (being in Toronto), is dedicated to three great artists born in this city: Neil Young, David Cronenburg and Glenn Gould. Therefore I have realized a Canadian Triptych, which represents a personal homage to three figures who have always inspired and, in the case of the musicians in particular, have kept me company during the many hours of work in my studio.
